Welcome back Tainted Cupcake Lovers! We’ve featured Sasha Grey before in her smoking hot Wired Pussy shoot and mentioned that she is starring in a breakthrough role in Steven Soderbergh’s new film, The Girlfriend Experience. Well my pretty pretties, get ready because the Girlfriend Experience is hitting theaters May 22nd (check out the trailer here), and I think we’re all very interested in how she handles the role. Traditionally, it’s been very hard for porn stars to break the stigma of hardcore work and get mainstream acting gigs. I’d say that Traci Lords is really the only female porn star who has ever made the full transition. Arguably, Jenna Jameson has also passed over into pop culture but really hasn’t had any solid mainstream Hollywood film roles. We wish Sasha the best of luck in her indy role, and all of us here at the Tainted Cupcake are rooting for her!

Sasha has often been touted as an “intelligent and fresh-faced” porn star. When your porn name is an homage to Oscar Wilde’s the Picture of Dorian Gray, you know there are some brains behind the boobs. The way she views the porn industry as being sexually empowering and liberating is refreshing. Her entry into the porn industry was an exploration and deepening of her sexual being and a well researched decision. Here at the Tainted Cupcake we applaud strong women in porn who are not afraid of what anyone else thinks; it’s a regular theme around these parts. If you don’t view porn as a stigma and own your actions, there’s a lot less baggage for you and everyone else to overcome.  Personally, I see porn as a societal pressure valve, a way for everyone to let off a little steam in a safe way.
